J Christopher's EP "All The Demons Are Here": A Musical Journey Toward Darkness and Healing

Electronic producer J Christopher of Denver has attempted to create an introspective and cinematic experience through his newest EP, "All The Demons Are Here." The experience of listening to the five tracks feels less like hearing a collection of songs and more like a psychological experience, an unflinching glimpse at some of the darkness we all experience within and around us.

From the first pulse, J Christopher constructs an atmosphere thick with tension, dark basslines, eerie synth scapes, and haunting ambient textures reminiscent of the emotional precision of Aphex Twin and the depth of Massive Attack. While it is similar to these precedents, it isn't an imitation, nor is it simply sounding similar. Each composition oscillates between chaos and calm, pain and catharsis, power and a search for its definition, and in doing so, seeks to highlight the artist's journey related to faith, doubt, and self-discovery.

Indeed, the EP could not be titled more appropriately. "All The Demons Are Here" uncovers both personal and collective shadows, fear, disillusionment, and a presentation of societal decay and decline that is perceived through the obscured sonic style J Christopher executes with dense production that begs you to listen deeply. Downtempo sections beg for introspection while moments of drum & bass and industrial edges remind the listener of the push and pull between destruction and healing.

J Christopher’s strength is in the ability to blend genres of techno, ambient music, dubstep, and trip-hop, all into a sound that exists wholly as his own. The result is a project that sounds both personal and elevated, a dark meditation on the fragility of humanity that eventually radiates with strength.
