Gudness’ “We’re All Good”: A Retro-Tinged Anthem Calling Out the Noise

Leicester’s rising quartet Gudness return with “We’re All Good,” a single that captures their signature blend of sunlit nostalgia, sharp lyricism, and youthful frustration delivered with a wink. Since forming in late 2023, the band has been steadily carving out their place in the UK indie landscape, fueled by 60s warmth, 70s groove, and the kind of modern grit that makes their sound impossible to box in.

The new track is a vibrant, self-assured response to the well-meaning but patronizing advice young people are constantly fed: “you’ll understand when you’re older,” “just be patient,” and all the other clichés. Instead of leaning bitter, Gudness frames the experience as a bright, melodic rebellion. The opening channels unmistakable Beach Boys-inspired harmonies, soft and sunny, setting a deceptively sweet foundation before the band flips the switch. Suddenly, the song bursts into roaring 90s shoegaze-style guitars, a wave of fuzz and attitude that feels like an emotional exhale.

Produced and mixed by Joel Patchett at Bam Bam Studio, well known for his work with Jaws, The Orielles, and Billy Ocean, the track is meticulously layered without losing the organic spark of their collaborative writing sessions. You can hear four friends bouncing ideas, laughing, arguing, refining, and ultimately building something that feels lived-in and real.

With previous singles gaining BBC Introducing support and even stadium play, Gudness already stands out as one of the UK’s most exciting unsigned acts. “We’re All Good” reinforces that reputation. It’s catchy, honest, and definitely youthful, a reminder that sometimes the best answer to condescension is simply proving you’re already miles ahead.
