Anastasia Rydlevskaya Reclaims Power Through Darkness on “Alchemia” Album

Anastasia Rydlevskaya’s “Alchemia” confronts trauma without softening its consequences. Across ten songs, the Poland-based songwriter and producer transforms betrayal, shame, rage, and recovery into an uncompromising electronic work that follows the classical alchemical stages of Nigredo, Albedo, Citrinitas, and Rubedo.

The album’s first movement enters psychological darkness. “Was It All Worth It?” confronts suicidal crisis and emotional disorientation, while “Plumbum” deepens the sense of collapse through imagery of heaviness and suffocation. These are difficult themes, but their discomfort gives the record its credibility. Rydlevskaya does not rush toward redemption.

The emotional temperature changes through “Pusteča” and “Snow Queen,” where aggression becomes a mechanism for reclaiming boundaries. The later songs carry that transformation further. “Your Woman,” “I’m Freaking Crazy,” and “Did You Tell Her?” reject self-erasure and external validation, allowing anger to become a source of agency.

“Lilith” completes the journey with an image of feminine sovereignty. Its significance lies in refusing the expectation that healing must look gentle. Rydlevskaya presents recovery as confronting the shadow, accepting uncomfortable parts of the self and choosing freedom without apology.

The sonic language supports that progression. Minimalist electronic passages, dark trip-hop, tribal rhythms, and acid techno continually alter the album’s atmosphere. The changes can feel severe, but that instability suits a project concerned with psychological transformation.

Rydlevskaya’s complete DIY control strengthens the message. She wrote, recorded, and produced the album in her bedroom, handling most mixing and mastering before Aliaksandr Karneichuk provided final polish. “Alchemia” is an uncompromising record about reclaiming voice, identity, and personal boundaries after devastation.
