DESCIENDA’s "𐤒" Album Finds Transformation in the Darkness
DESCIENDA’s "𐤒" is an album that treats progressive rock as an inward expedition rather than a display of technical excess. Across eleven tracks, the Guadalajara studio project explores separation, fear, judgment, surrender, and the difficult recognition that healing may require dismantling the identity we thought was keeping us safe.
The album’s strongest quality is its atmosphere. Alternative and progressive rock meet electronic, industrial, and ambient textures, creating a sound world that often feels suspended between physical reality and something more spiritual. “Oculto” represents the darker side of that vision, carrying industrial weight and tension, while tracks such as “Luz,” “Fuego,” “Armonía,” and “Soy” suggest movement through different emotional states.
There is an unusual history behind the record. Its compositions emerged at different moments between 2004 and the present, through separate projects and collaborations, without an original plan to form one album. Bringing those pieces together years later could easily have produced an uneven collection. The material gains meaning from the conceptual thread connecting it: descent, fragmentation, and eventual remembrance of an underlying unity.
The record is also refreshingly unconcerned with conventional accessibility. Its mystical ideas require patience, and some passages may feel deliberately opaque to listeners looking for immediate hooks or straightforward narratives. That resistance is part of its character, though it can also make the album demanding.
Recorded at Alquimia Estudios in Guadalajara, "𐤒" feels like a private artistic document. Its central idea is compelling: redemption is not rescue from outside, but recognition of something already within.
