Delta of Venus Shines on "Intertwined b/w Intertwined (acoustic)" with Textured Shoegaze Brilliance
Coming out of Mystic, Connecticut, Delta of Venus continues to expand the edges of modern shoegaze with their second single, "Intertwined b/w Intertwined (acoustic)." While the band was still riding the buzz from their debut "Disengaged b/w Slipping," this new release offers a formalized version that embodies dreamy textures, but includes the sharpness of a revealing emotional edge, giving audiences two sides of the same spiritual coin.
"Intertwined" fits all within the shoegaze haze and swirl, yet poetic lyricism pulls the song into a distinctly emotional clarity. The title describes the experience of living in a fractured world, yet always maintaining empathy with even the most superficial strangers. The production is lush, layered, and immersive enough to fully absorb you in the fog of reverberated guitars and softly yearning vocals.
Then you get the surprise: the acoustic version, which started as an in-joke during rehearsals and became a revelation. Guitarist Ellery Twining’s stripped-down interpretation takes the song and exposes a gentle fragility but still holds the same emotional weight but offers it in a smaller, more direct, folk setting. It's shoegaze unplugged, and it's good.
Recorded at Dirt Floor Recording and Production, "Intertwined b/w Intertwined (acoustic)" shows that Delta of Venus are not just chasing atmosphere; they are staking their ground in a singular place where sonic expanse and lyrical depth coexist.
