Kelsie Kimberlin Says Goodbye to Emotional Baggage with "Sucker"

Kelsie Kimberlin, a rightfully recognized pop powerhouse born and raised in Washington, DC, nailed her stated goal with her latest single "Sucker". The new, first single from a forthcoming album is an emotional jolt of self-empowerment and about that relatable topic of emotional manipulation. "Sucker" is not your typical breakup song, instead it's a raw, sincere confession wrapped in sleek pop production that allows Kelsie to showcase her vulnerability alongside her power.

The mixing work by Liam Nolan (Adele) suited the song perfectly, and the song was mastered by Stuart Hawkes (Amy Winehouse). The song has a polished and radio-friendly vibe while keeping the emotional depth drawn from Kelsie's experience. Kelsie explored the depths of being held alone in a one-sided relationship, all too familiar. Kelsie's performance captured that emotion in a cathartic and all-consuming way that speaks to the pain of hoping it would work out, and the pain of realizing it never could.

The official music video, filmed in Kyiv, Ukraine, and directed by Kelsie herself, adds a layer to the story. Anticipating engaging with instruments in a room full of musical instruments, Kelsie emotionally unravels and subsequently rebuilds, and each of the instruments symbolically stands for a new attempt at exiting toxicity.

Full circle and poignantly impressive in light of Kelsie's advocacy work and recent accolades by the United Nations and King Charles, "Sucker" shows again to be more than a rising star, but being a brave storyteller.
