Gus Seventy Seven is back with grunge-inflected catharsis on “NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION” album
Greek grunge band Gus Seventy Seven brings back raw reflection and haunting ‘90s vibes in their third full-length effort, “NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION”. The band is made up of Socratis Valeras, Panos Pritsas, Kostas Paraschis, Chris Koutroulis, and Sakis Spiropoulos from Kozani and Karditsa. The new album features 9 tracks of a grunge/alternative rock album with heavy-laden lyrical issues turned into personal manifestos.
From the emotional title track, “Torn and Broken” to the energized “Future Of The Mankind,” each song explores pain, addiction, loss and identity. It’s a visceral experience of angst and acceptance owing much to the gut-wrenching feel of the Seattle scene with its many tributes to Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, including a couple excellent cover versions of “Ty Cobb” and “Again.”
The album was made in home studios from Kozani and Karditsa, and thus it has that authenticity of DIY in it. Paraschis' guitars and bass textures, vocals from Bojan Aleksic, and contributions by Lorenzo Masi and others add to the serious and honest layering quality of each track. The mastering by Marvin T at Tide Studios UK makes them shine in a way that won't lose the underground feel of the music.
"NINE PATHS IN ONE DIRECTION" is not just an album; it is an example of overhead and survival, self-reflection, and inner passion and love of music.
