Ian Rae’s “Sleeping Angel” EP: A Soulful, Introspective Journey From Kenley, England

From the quiet suburb of Kenley, England, Independent singer-songwriter Ian Rae blesses our soul with “Sleeping Angel,” a six-track EP that comes from the heart. Combining gentle acoustic layers and poetic vulnerability, Rae crafts a dreamy, soul searching collection that feels intimate and expansive, creating a relationship with the listener where each song gently touches the soul with effort, honesty, and sincerity that persists long after the music has ended.

The EP opens with the title track, “Sleeping Angel,” an exquisitely spare meditation upon longing and emotional distance. Rae’s weathered yet warm vocal draws you in, engendering sympathy wherever he chooses to take you. “Sleepy Forest” and “Where the Cold Wind Blows” follow with soft layers of melancholy and hope; Rae invokes vivid imagery of self-directed exploration and reflection. Rae’s production for “Sleeping Angel” is deliberately light; unabashedly allowing the artistry of his songwriting to be fully realized in raw elegance.

"Don't Forget to Blow a Kiss" is a special situation that comes across like a windswept letter from a distant shore, while "Not Another Song" embraces haunting minimalism, reflecting loss and a searching trepidation. The final song "Round and Around" brings it all home with a tenuous peace.

With "Sleeping Angel," Ian Rae shows us that being vulnerable can be a superpower. This is still music that listens just as much as it talks, subtle, honest and completely human.
