Nick Pike's "Phraxia" Album: A Hypnotic Collection of Piano, Synth & Poised Absence

London-based contemplative composer Nick Pike continues to stake his claim in the neoclassical space with the release of his third studio album, "Phraxia." Following the groundwork of 2024's Norastoria and Evergreen, Phraxia is a cohesive ten-track collection of emotional solo piano, textured electronic, and a hint of jazz that is suited for anyone who enjoys Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, or Ólafur Arnalds.

As much as anything, Phraxia is a showcase of Pike's ability to create a narrative through sound. The swirling opening track "Whispertide" and the consumptive "Abaluna" demonstrate his expertise in shaping sleep-themed piano melodies into folded ambient synth layers that offer an incredible sense of inner peace and contemplative movement. "Für Beethoven" proves to be a thoughtful addition to the classical canon, and it creatively uses Für Elise to construct something playful and inventive, yet at the same time, respectful of the original structure.

Every track of this ten-track collection of music is purposeful, which invites the listener to engage with their own reflections, curiosity, and calm.
