The Casbahs Are Back with Their Raucous New Single Electric Daydreams
After a three-year hiatus, Durham indie rock band The Casbahs return with their raucous new single Electric Daydreams. From the first riff, you can tell that this track is here to mark their arrival with grit, with confidence, with volume. Recorded at The Garage Studios in South Shields, this song retains some of that familiar rawness that you might remember from their debut Been Here Before, but also pushes their sound into a bolder, more expanded soundscape.
Frontman Niall Fenwick’s dominant vocals fight their way through a wall of guitars, the output of which is provided by the seasoned Joe Teasdale and the newcomer Steven Grainger. Together, they have given the sound fresh tones and ideas.
The principal rhythmic pulse provided by Jack Walker on the bass and Harry Mason's drums is tight yet propulsive, offering drive but keeping all the chaos calm. Collectively, they provide just enough nod to the nostalgia of a wall of noise indie genre, yet keep it modern and sharp.
The value of Electric Daydreams is its audacity. It is not a mere comeback single; it is a staunch demonstration of purpose. Featuring soaring solos, gargantuan guitar textures, and lyrics sung with unrestrained conviction, the single portrays The Casbahs at their most headstrong. If this is a prelude to the new album, fans are in for a wild ride. Officially, The Casbahs are back, louder and stronger than before.
