ALL I LIVE FOR’s Album “Into The Ether”: A Stunning Leap of Storytelling in Modern Metal
Leeds-based metal visionaries ALL I LIVE FOR return with their towering sophomore album, Into The Ether, a ten-track odyssey that cements their evolution from rising contenders to fully realized architects of emotionally charged, metal-driven truth.
This album is a heartfelt expression, as Mike Pearson, by himself, wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered the entire project in his own studio. In addition, it looks like the creative process, which is mainly Pearson's work, was also touched by Dave Williams' witty contributions. Except for a few tracks, Dave Williams, the band's drummer, has been involved in most of the tracks and also provided the most important creative input in the production of the album, hence the work sounds both tightly executed and a nice creative influx.
Not only heavy, Into The Ether is also very purposeful. The Hellbringers dare to discuss what other artists hide under the carpet: corruption of world leaders, environmental decay, personal growth, and the courage to face the unknown. A track “Give Me A Reason” goes off with a tight guitar riff and a loud drumbeat, which fits well with the energetic, epic, and in the style of metal, soaring kind of lead vocal that questions leadership with unmistakable conviction. “Embers Of The Fallen” goes more profound, a call for the human race to take lessons from its past and face the collective fear.
However, Pearson’s phenomenal vocal performance is what really defines this record. On some of the songs, he combined up to eight different vocal harmonies, and each was recorded twice or more, so in reality, it is one multi-layered choir that is lifting the songs to the cinema sector, theatrical, loud, and absolute.
This album is a daring move following the band's debut flagship, We Are The Angels. What’s more, ALL I LIVE FOR is not only perfecting their sound, but they're broadening their universe. Into The Ether serves as both a warning and a guide, a plea for togetherness and strength, with some of the most far-reaching metal production coming from the UK these days. And Pearson is already working on two more albums, so the adventure has just started.
