With her upcoming single “The Star,” San Francisco songwriter Michellar delivers a warm, nostalgic slice of holiday folk that feels both intimate and timeless. Written and demoed in California by Michelle Bond, and later produced and mastered by long-time collaborator Toby Wilson in Staffordshire, UK, the track reflects the duo’s evolving creative chemistry, a partnership that has already yielded more than 25 songs in just a year.

“The Star” is a gentle tribute to the atmosphere of classic folk storytellers like Dan Fogelberg. Michellar taps into that same sense of homey reflection, in the quiet moments, the small gestures, the emotional weight of memory, and channels it into a song built around simplicity and sincerity. Her lyrics revolve around a single, symbolic act: placing the star atop the Christmas tree. But behind that gesture lies something bigger: hope, completeness, and the reminder that family still anchors us when life becomes hurried and cluttered.
